Have a consistant dull achy pain under my right rib n around into the ride side of my back?

had an Emergancy cholecystectomy 2 1/2 years ago. And could not find any problems with the gallblader. most of the pain and discomfort has dissappeared except for some dietary problems. Now for the last couple of months these bouts of pain come and go but many stay for 12 hours one time and only for a 2-3hours the next time. But the main thing is that now i have been experiencing sharp stabbing feelings in the same spot right under my rib cage which this emoblizes me and the only way to help with this pain is to curl up into a ball and to hold pressure where the stabbing pain is( only comes and goes this has happened about 4 or five times at most). What could this be or how could i go about controlling the problem?
