Actually, I think the question is not quite that simple. Mubarak is a dictator and Egyptians have suffered under his rule. He also was instrumental in the adoption of the Israeli treaty, which of course is in the U.S. interest and in the interest of the rest of the world. Why can't we be supportive of that portion of his legacy, but also support the idea that people have the right to choose their leaders? The U.S. relationship with other countries in the final ysis is dependent on our relations with the people of those countries and not just their leaders.
