Why don't we use nuclear powered cars as an alternative energy?

How would you dispose of the waste products? They have nuclear power plants that dispose of depleted uranium rods, but how on Earth do you expect them to dispose of billions of them? And how would the operator shield themselves from radiation? Everybody would have to wear a radiation suit everywhere from now on.
