When could be a good time to talk about this?

A friend of mine had a stroke, paralyzed on the right side of his body and needs special cups to drink cause the left side of his face is also lame, another friend of mine knows what's going on. the friend who had heart attack and I were planning a vacation, no specific details done, we were thinking of this summer. now with him in hospital unable to write me cause he is right handed i was thinking of telling the other friend and ask if we could set a goal date. then close to that date see how the friend who had stroke doing. like right now is a no, the friend who had stroke is in hospital the other friend way to busy..but maybe in 7 months (August) one who had stoke will be home and not needing so much extra care, maybe regained use of his right side and the pother friend won't be so busy. could i bring this up to the other friend? how?
